FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is breathwork?

Breathwork is an active meditation that uses a three part active breathing method to move your breath throughout your body. It is very simple to learn and requires no prior experience.

What do breathwork sessions include?

Sessions begin with clearing and setting the space and intention setting. After connecting about your needs and what brought you to the session, Cindy will introduce the active breathing method. When you're ready to begin, you will remain fully clothed and lay flat on your back, if physically possible.

The active breath is a three-part breathing method and is very easy—no prior breath work experience is required. You will practice the active breath and then transition to relaxed breath. Cindy will guide you through the practice as you enter a rhythmic state of meditation as you connect to the power of your own breath to shift energy in your body.

The session will close with connecting and sharing insight about your experience.

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that emerged in Japan in the early 20th century. The word reiki is made from two Japanese words: Rei which loosely translates to “universal” and Ki, “life force energy”. In a reiki session, a practitioner acts as the channel for this universal life force energy and directs it through the hands into the client’s body. Reiki is an intelligent energy and goes to where it is needed most in the body to help promote wellness.

 CAREGIVER SUPPORT

How can reiki and breathwork support caregivers?

Reiki and breath work are also effective tools to help manage caregiver stress and navigate workplace challenges and burnout.

The three-part breathwork uses two inhales and one exhale, reminding us to fill ourselves twice before we breathe out and give ourselves to the world. Working with the active breath practice strengthens the muscle of viewing our self as our first patient and making sure we are tending to our needs instead of sacrificing what we need to remain strong and healthy for others.

Reiki and breathwork both work to dislodge stress and emotional residue from the physical and emotional body, while also working to restore balance within. Both practices connect you more deeply to yourself, your intuition, and your experience, and can help provide a shift of perspective or flash of insight.

Taking the time to connect deeply with your breath connects us to the rhythms of ocean waves—constant, steady, full of life and energy, and powerful. Getting to know the power of one’s breath builds confidence to navigate through areas of tension, stress and discomfort, knowing the power lies within to move that energy in the body.
